Since we do it, we thought of blogging it in the hope it shortens your search for similar info. We try new things as hobby or requested by daily life. We believe that sharing experience in a practical manner might help the others.

Wordpress templates & hacks

Preparing this blog was exciting and it took longer than expected. It was the first time I got into Wordpress templating and as always, until you need it, you hardly enter a new domain.

Previous experience with Wordpress was resuming at making small changes to predefined templates and trying new plugins. In the quest of creating GetHelpFor.com blog I wanted to implement a template from scratch. Well, I did not designed it (see the footer credentials), I took it from the Open Source Webdesign website and attempted to adapt it to suit the Wordpress and this particular blog’s needs.

Now the recipe:

All in one, it felt great learning something new (for me) and I want to send a big THANK YOU to all the designers who generously open-sourced some great templates on OSWD and to the authors of the two tutorials. I am sure there are literally hundreds of Wordpress tutorials out there on the web. If you have them, let us know. These two did the initial trick for me.

    Further tweaking the template I added widgets to the sidebar using this tutorial.
